INDASA Abrasives (UK) Ltd has announced their support to Thatcham Research by supplying their Automotive Academy with premium surface preparation materials and sanding systems.
The collaboration with Thatcham Research is new for 2023. The ‘not for profit’ insurer funded research centre has been at the forefront of vehicle safety, security, and repair for over 50 years. With INDASA’s manufacturing know-how and expertise in high performance abrasive systems, this strategic collaboration aims to maximise individual skill and strengthen the future development of the crash repair industry in the UK.
There is no denying that the demands from the rapidly evolving and dynamic industry are setting challenges both in terms of product development and the needs of the bodyshop operators. The skills crisis is a real and acknowledged threat to the body repair industry. When asked to comment on the forthcoming development, Simon Bracey (Key Account Manager, INDASA UK) said “creating opportunities for the next generation to enter the industry is critical and the work being carried out by Thatcham Research cannot be overstated.”
Dean Lander (Head of Repair Sectors Services, Thatcham Research) said “With rapid evolution in vehicle technology it is becoming critical to understand how traditional repair techniques can be sustained, while ensuring these do not compromise vehicle safety systems. Our focus at the Automotive Academy is to ensure our customers’ success through our insight. With the support of INDASA, we can ensure that insight supports future technical competency requirements long into the future.”
This alliance not only represents an ongoing investment to the UK aftermarket industry but also the commitment to the delivery of expertise and instruction. It’s not just the high-performance materials that count, but the technical back-up and service capability are such major contributory factors to bodyshop business operations.
